The focus of this project was working towards the development of Austria’s first CO2 / carbon-neutral telecommunications network according to the PAS 2060 standard.
Our solution
The PAS 2060 standard requires abatement of all Scope 1 & 2 as well as all Scope 3 emissions which account for more than 1% of the total corporate carbon footprint. To achieve this, first, the corporate carbon footprint for the countries of operation was developed, thus identifying the relevant GHG emission hotspots. As the next step, denkstatt conducted an assessment to identify GHG reduction measures, based on which a decarbonization roadmap with tailored measures was developed in line with the requirements of the SBTi.
Client benefit
Upon completion of the project, A1 Telekom obtained a detailed and tailored decarbonization roadmap, which serves to guide effective GHG emissions reduction actions. By pursuing carbon neutrality certification using the PAS 2060 and SBTi standards, A1 Telekom has ensured that it’s carbon neutrality claims are independently verified.
